Co-founder and CTO, Cluie
James Buzzard
Neuroscience-trained AI leader. Agentic engineering. Advisor and mentor on AI strategy and delivery.
About James
James builds AI systems, and helps leaders decide which ones are worth building. The gap he works in is the one between AI ambition and production: pilots that never go live, and strategies that don't survive contact with real data, real users and real risk.
Today that means agentic engineering. James designs and builds agentic delivery pipelines and production applications hands-on, and uses that practice to advise executives on what AI can realistically do for their organisation, what it will cost, and where it will break.
His career has sat where strategy meets implementation: founding Babeltech, one of Australia's early Google Apps implementation partners; leading the delivery of RACE, Australia's first university commercial cloud supercomputing facility, at RMIT University; and, as Partner CTO at Microsoft, helping technology partners build cloud and AI practices, including the early setup of KPMG's KymChat.
Before technology he studied neuroscience, trained as a chef and designed theatre lighting. Each still shapes how he works: how people actually think, how to deliver under pressure, and the fact that the audience only ever sees what works.
